Channel 5 Gadget Show

Honister to star in the Channel 5 Gadget Show

Honister Slate Mine, is set to star in Channel 5’s tec programme the Gadget Show on Monday 17th June at 8pm.

The iconic visitor attraction nestling at the foot of Fleetwith Pike, was chosen as the ultimate location for chief Gadget Show tester Jon Bentley and former Royal Marine Commando, expedition leader and survival specialist Aldo Kane to put the latest crop of high end walking boots through their paces.

Honister offered the testers a wide variety of terrain conditions and challenging environments, perfect for putting the tec boots through their paces. Offering an ideal opportunity for Jon and Aldo to walk the land, to check the boots for comfort, durability and their ability to stop the British weather, before deciding which pair came out on top.

Honister is renowned as the UK’s home of heart pumping adventure activity. A place that offers its visitors a real opportunity to pit themselves against nature and awesome adventure experiences. So it’s no real surprise the producers of the show chose this awesome location to test the latest in tec boots with the daunting bulk of Lake District mountain, Fleetwith Pike, perched a mere 2,162ft or 648m from the valley floor or twice the height of the Shard and no less than nine times taller than Big Ben as the test centre!
